Always been a fan of the 35's. I've always wanted a 358 Win. and may still have one built. There's probably not much out there that can stand a 180 or 200 gr TTSX. I've had a 35 Whelen in a Model 700 Rem. It shot the Hornady 200 gr Superformance ammo extremely well. Had SSK build a 35 Whelen barrel for me that was almost as accurate as the Rem. 700 and I have the old 35 Rem. in a 1958 Marlin 336RC that my Uncle willed to me after he passed. Taken several deer with it as well.

358Win is a blast to shoot and 19" barrel makes it easy to hike around.

Theoretically a 35cal by name but .355 diameter bullet unless custom build.

How is 0.355" and 0.358" that much different other than bullets are not interchangeable?

I've been running the 35 Welen for years in a m77 Hawkeye. It loves the 220 Speer fp (discontinued) pushed by rl15 or the 225 Barnes tsx pushed by cfe223. I've also done some testing with the 259 Hammer with rl15.
Most of my brass is reformed 30-06 brass but some is Remington 35 Whelen brass. It doesn't really seem to matter what brass you use as long as it fits the rifle and the primer pockets aren't blown. One particularly calm day a few years back I let a buddy shoot a group with the Whelen with Speers at 100 yards, then I went to the 200 yard line and dumped another group. Both groups measured .30". My buddy might have done a bit better if he'd actually shot the rifle before that group I suppose.

Op, I would urge you to look at a 338/06....light barnes ttsx in this caliber rock!

I know it does!!
I shot the 165 barnes ttsx in a 338 WM at 3200 fps for a while, let a good friend borrow the gun for a season, can't get it back!
I used some light hammers in 300 wm for a while. It was deadly!
