Ohlongarm , I believe that an animal that was bread and lives to do a good job with intelligence and drive is being abused if not worked and at my age now it would a an abuse for me to start another dog . I think that had I known of some of the better breeds out there years ago that I would have had way too many dogs . A lot of the dogs that are being used in the service would make extremely good coyote hunting partners .

I used to put a muzzle on Buckwheat when I would take him to the vet . One day a woman said why would bring a dog that was dangerous to people or even have one that was to the vet . I looked at her and said he won't bother with you his a coyote hunting dog and I don't want him to kill your dog if it messes with him . I got called a few choice names and told what a low life I was to teach my dog to hurt other dogs . He wouldn't bother any thing but coyote and fox unless it bothered him . I was out calling with him one morning when he brought me an old ewe that had been left behind when they moved the sheep out of that pasture . He just herded her in to me and was so proud of himself . The rancher came and got her . We had a lot of good times together .

I think you must have run into one of those women who knows everything about everything, DSheetz. They're out there, and you can't tell them anything. I must say, though, I have learned a lot from know-it-all people - they have helped me master the art of ignoring a total jerk whenever I run into one.

I think I may have met her once in an Elmer's restaurant in Portland one fine morning. She and her husband took me to task for reading a shooting magazine at the breakfast table. I believe the picture of the AR on the cover was what set them off. Mind you, I hadn't invited them to my table to chat or anything - they just thought that I was interested in what they had to say. They were mistaken, of course, and they got a little huffy with me when I told them so. Oh, well ….. Perhaps it would be better if they didn't poke their noses into other people's business.

Amen, I live within a 22000 acre forest with no access to anyone near me,it houses a ton of game,I've relentlessly pursued coyotes with a passion ,it has made a difference in the deer ,turkey,rabbit,and squirrel population despite what the biologists say. The fawns now many can live to mature as do the turkeys,i'm seeing now dozens of turkey poults with the hens everywhere,a good sign.Today I saw half a dozen does with fawns,some twins,and didn't go back more than two acres.

Where in Ohio? I'm working near the Wayne National Forest in Jackson, Galia, and Lawrence County in South Eastern Ohio. If you don't want to say, I understand. I deer hunt in Meigs County when I get a chance

DONE!!! 5 less coyote around my property. 2 never made it out of the culvert. 3 hot blasted just out of the culvert. 12 guage at clos4 range does wonders.

Good. Last year there were about 12 fawns on or near my property, by fall, there were only 3 that we would see on a regular basis. We used to have lots of whitetails, now we have lots of coyotes and a lot less deer.
