Thinking of building on a budget

Can anyone tell me if this is good deal? Thinking I might build 6.5 PRC or a 300 PRC rifle. Or should I look for a magnum rifle to start build but hard to find one Left Handed.

Looks like a good buy, still need to think about bottom metal as well. A lot of times if you shop around at pawn shops your can find a complete rifle for the same price then you can part out the barrel and stock to reduce your starting costs.

Buy a used Savage 110 or 111. I've purchased a couple for under $300. Then screw on a match grade barrel.

Personally, I'd grab a trued 700 action from Northland Shooters Supply and a Remage style Crietrion barrel with their barrel nut and recoil lug. Doesn't get much easier.

Or a Ruger American in 300 mag and go hunting...

Super frugal,,, find a good used optic... best bang for the buck...

But yes,,, lots of ways to stay with in the budget.

That will work fine for a 300prc. I'd consider a tikka for the 6.5prc. Don't need much truing, has dbm and perfect length. Lots of ways to do it though. Keep us updated

What's your "actual" budget for the entire rifle? Savage action is hard to beat when it comes to DIY.

As others have said it's hard to beat a NSS/Criterion barrel paired with a Savage or even a Remington if you go Remage. You might have to send them the reamer of your choice for 6.5PRC or .300PRC as neither one looks to be in their available chamber options.

I have looked at the Mauser 18 but not much in way of aftermarket add ons stocks ect.
and the Savage 110 Ultralite not out yet May just have to wait. Plus none of those are LEFT HANDED.

I have a Tikka T3x CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor but is brand new unfired Not sure that 6.5 prc rounds will fit magazine. But Shaen Magan said it should and he would ream barrel and open bolt face up. But it is RH also.

I also have a Savage model 12 in 300 wsm that could be a doner rifle but again it is RH.

If I were wanting a first custom, I would actually look in our "guns for sale" section. Very good deals to be had plus you always learn what your really want and need from the next .... and the next...
