The original long range rifle- the 45/70

.....I had a Ruger #3 carbine in 45-70 and a buddy at work gave me three 500 grain Hornady bullets for the 458 WM.

........The recoil knocked the filters out of my nose and the blood began to flow again. I kept the third bullet to remind me to never fire a 500 grain bullet at 1800 fps out of a 5 1/2 pound rifle again.

They were brutal little beasts on both ends. The #1's were a little better.

Glad you like it. My 44 mag 1894 got sent to the factory 3 times, last time they gave me a new one. Bugger screws. The threads were stripped for the scope. One good thread. They kept send it back with a new screw, even after I told them. Fun gun with peep sights.

The replacement is great gun. Remintong has been having lots of growing pains, with lever actions. Hopefully they got it down.

44 or .357, 10 shots, are nice around the house.
