For a hunter to use target ammo it is a trick to improve the shot, not designed for hunting.

Little do people know match bullets make some of the best hunting bullets. I havent used a "hunting" bullet in years

My head tells me that what is essentially an eld with an aluminum tip in place of the plastic one should still perform adequately. Maybe I'm oversimplifying it, but if people are getting positive results with eldms, seems like this isn't too far a stretch.

I think what redleg1013 was getting at, because I was going to mention it as well, is that aluminum tipped bullets have been around for quite awhile. I believe they were used by some snipers in WWII. It's not new technology, hornady has just marketed well, and hopefully perfected the design. Anyhow, everyone else is wondering how they will preform on game. What I was planning on saying is, just research how aluminum tipped bullets have preformed over the last 90 years. They are small companies that made the bullets, so the info is scarce compared to horndady, berger, seirra, and barnes data, but it is out there.

The other Al bullets probably aren't too relevant to this bullet's performance. The jacket thickness/material as well as the core properties would be more important. You are right about the Al tips being around a long time. Even by this manufacturer. Been shooting the 750gr 50s for a while. I haven't shot anything bigger than a ground squirrel with them though.

I seat Badlands bullets just fine with standard dies.

I think Hornady makes a nice seating die. I always fill my seating stems with epoxy to form a mold for the bullets I use; no markings from seating stem. Can use the same mold for similar olgives

lots of other bullets "not designed for hunting" have been used and are being used for hunting with great success,

have 100 pcs of the 250 gr 30 cal bullets coming next week, will plug some water jugs and see what they do

I'm interested in the 6mm.

Nothing impressive about bc on the 6mm. You have the 110 SMK's and the 115 DTACS that are a little higher bc and are crazy accurate, and work great on big game. At almost a dollar a piece they don't do anything for me. The 6.5 is looking better but then again it's just right there with the 150gr SMK. The 30'are looking better if there bc pans out and they perform. But the biggest question is if these are LR target bullets where is the 7 mm? It is king in 1000yd F class and bench rest. I'm sure there is probably one coming though.
