Thanks guys for your comments. Grizzly grouper, ha I like it! Eaglet- actually, I don't know how that blood got so high up on the side. Probably from hanging upside down on the crane. 4ked horn- the vitals are fairly similair to any other ungulate except they are just way BIGGER! The gut pile alone must have weighed well over 200 pounds. I wouldn't be surprised if it was over 300 pounds. There is one difference in Bison over other ungulates. Their spine dips very low behind the shoulder blade. Often times, a mid height shoulder shot will also sever the spine (provided that the bullet used is one tough cookie!) Jd338- This one was a cow and she weighed in over 1100 pounds on the hoof. Plenty of meat for a LRH summer Bar-b-que get together! Buffalobob- From what I hear, the Madison river is THE premier fly fishing river in the west. Isn't it the river fished in the movie, "A River Runs Through It?" It is clear, cold, and looked like a good place to wet a fly, but I really wouldn't know. I only go fishing when I run out of bullets and that hasn't happened much yet! Longaction- The MOAG is a 52 pound 338 lapua improved that my cousin was sorta responsible for naming. She was asking Brian B what the heck is that thing and Brian summed it up as the Mother Of All Guns of course! It just kinda stuck.
