The Importance Of Technology

When I speak of using technology it's 500 and beyond less than 500 you should know and practice enough that it is a no brainer
Agreed. that is kind of what I am looking for. For you 500 is a no-brainer. And how far will folks go past that off a drop chart? Would it matter if you had made drastic elevation change over the course of a weeks hunt?

Imagine it would make a change how drastic I'm not sure I've only been out west once and re zeroed my rifle when I got there but to test your theory program different elevations or barometric pressure's corresponding with certain altitude in your ballistic programs and compare the outcome

I use FFP mildot reticles and memorise their points of impact out to 5 mil's of drop, which vary from 750-900yds. However, whether I take a long shot depends mostly on the weather conditions, size of animal, nature of the game, type of vegetation and surrounding terrain. Whilst in some circumstances I'd be happy taking a 850yd shot, in another set of conditions I'd insist on being inside 400yds, and do by best to get closer than 300yds with the same rifle. It's a question where ethics are as important as science in finding a definitive answer.
