The Facebook crazies

Trying to explain to an "interweb expert" how heavier high BC bullets are better for long range than a "light, fast" bullet is like teaching a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig....
They all KNOW that if the MV is 3000 fps or more, the bullet absolutely does not drop for the first two miles...
Only 2 miles? I thought it was 3 miles? One per 1,000 FPS of MV...???

:D

I just had an idiot today tell me a 308 loaded with the same weight bullet as the creed is better than the creed. I just left that one be
Wow........ That's one of those "smile and nod, and slowly walk away" situations.

And the kicker, is that if you tried to show someone like that facts to teach them where they were wrong, and to help them actually learn something, so they will be more knowledgeable on the subject...They just call you a "know-it-all" or an "a-hole" and walk away still believing completely backwards facts, and thinking you're the jerk.

That's exactly what happened. I politely said that wasn't the case. I showed 2 ballistic charts with a 6.5 and a 147 and a 308 with a 155. He called me ignorant so I just let it go from there...... I'll let him believe that

I've actually been noticing in alot of videos and posts, that people don't seem to realize that .308 Win has more bullet options than 155 and 168 grains. It's like people think all bullets are designed for a specific cartridge, and that not all .30 caliber cartridges can interchange the same bullets. Like people don't seem to realize those 180-230 grain bullets used in the .300 WinMag, are also able to be used in a .300 BLK, .308 Win, and .30-06... I think there's just TONS of disinformation out there, and it's our job, as people in-the-know, to help correct those falsities.

It also hasn't helped anything that this "new" sport of LRH has blown up so fast, that it's now the cool thing to say you're a long range hunter/shooter, and most of them don't know their *** from a hole in the ground, but repeat the bullcrap they've been told, because other uninformed people believe it, so they think they're smart and know what they're talking about.

Sadly that type of mentality is very fitting in today's generation of people under 30...I mean, these are the same idiots who think they can impeach a legitimately-elected President who has done nothing illegal, simply because they don't want him in the White House. They actually thought that protesting the inauguration was going to affect whether or not they swore him into office... That's how dumb this generation is.

I actually ran into a guy who shot 200 class bullets in his 308. I was like holy crap! Someone who knows what he's doing!

I've been shooting the 210/215 Bergers in mine since around 2012. Works alot better than people think. Most are chasing the velocity, since the .308 Win is already naturally short in that department, but the ballistics from the high BC heavies more than makes up for it.

I've never cared for the 308, but I wouldn't mind one to shoot the 208 eld match

The uninformed 308 crowd is just as bad as the uninformed creedmoor crowd. A guy I know told me "the 308 is the best long range cartridge ever developed, that's why the armed forces uses it" I tried explaining that the 308 has it's advantages and disadvantages but for strictly long range shooting there were better options, and tried explaining drop and drift. I got the 'how dare you insult my precious' look.
