The Aging Process

It's not all that bad...until you decide to try and get in shape for hunting season.
I'm 64 and joined the gym four months ago , I must say I'm pretty happy with how I'm doing . In 35 minutes on the stair stepper = 112 floors at 1789 steps , sweating like a pig on the roaster spit , three days a week . Then I work on upper body stuff . The off days I'm walking with a 32lb pack , went five miles today .
I've got two Elk hunts planed this year and want to be in the best shape possible . Planet Fitness $10 a month , can't beat it .

Darn I'm 87 now so my years will get shorter? Hope that doesn't happen with the rest of my activities.
So what activities.......exactly....are you referring to.....that are noticeably shorter?🤣 Reminds me of the saying..." If you don't use it....you loose it"

Unless you are Superman, there is no way .35 minutes will get you up 5 stairs! Or is that a period.... ending the sentence?

You need to work that body. Weight training and cardio. I try and hit the gym 4-5 days a week.

So talking to @skipglo last night and we agreed there is a different aging scale once you hit 62. We called it the "Dog Scale" after 62! Seems the aging accelerates equal to a dog! We now add 7 years for every year going forward! I am certain this is absolute truth!
Sorry Muddy, will take argument with that. I like to follow Lucille Ball's (I Love Lucy show) example. Once she turned 29, every year she had another 29th birthay. This year I celebrated my 35th 29th birthday...I hope I didn't loose you with that arithmetic.

I am thinking once you hit 50, start counting backwards instead.

I joined a fitness center in Jan this year to address the decimation of lower body strength from spinal stenosis and arthritis. Eye opening is understatement how far I had fallen. Seeing improvement but took 8 years to lose, so not gonna get it back for quite a while. Machine work, therapy pool for stretching then jacuzzi for 15 minutes with water jet on lower back. Surprised by the strength returning but longgg way to go. Its interesting if I have to miss a scheduled day how much that affects my mental state. You really become "addicted" to the workouts!!

Fixing old mountain bike for added cardio. Adding in walking in big 800+ acre park nearby that has prob 15 miles of trails thru woods. Deer, turkey, all sorts of critters. Some 2 legged ones.

Yep, imagine what that 30 seconds is in dog years.

I will be 60 this year...still very active. I play 6hrs of racquetball every week and lift 3x's per week. I'm hoping I inherited both of my parents genes as they were both very active well into their 80's. My dad killed, loaded, and skinned 2 deer by himself when he was 85. He had a couple of mild strokes the next spring and passed a few months later.
