As most of us, who belong to this website are sitting inside of our homes, during this troubling moment in our lives, what would we do without the social interaction this site gives us? How would we be able to further find helpful advice and information on a daily basis? How would we acquire new friendships from other areas and share our insights and ideas? Where could we find such great comadrie with others who embrace our passion for shooting?
Without a gentleman named Len Backus, whose foresight and hardships resulted in this website for our enjoyment, whose name resonates with those of us long timers, what would we be doing now? It is times like this we fail to appreciate the things we take for granted. Today I hope everyone here will give a shout out of thanks to Len Backus.

Len, I'm glad you posted your reason for starting this forum. I don't get many truly long range shots where I hunt in Arkansas, but I take it seriously. I have noticed that the folks on this forum are much more serious and willing to do all the work necessary to make clean kills and recover every animal shot. I practiced at longer ranges than I was likely to get a shot, so when the opportunity came to take a shot at an 11-point buck, I was confident that I could do it and did. I have recovered every animal I have ever shot with a rifle and wish to continue that streak as long as I am able, God willing.

I have lost deer that I hit with a crossbow and it has taken me years to get over it and become confident hunting with a Crossbow again. But now that is good as long as I stay within my practiced limits.

But I thought I should commend everyone on LRH for being much more conscientious and much more skilled hunters than the average "Joe deer hunter" out there who often look down on anyone who would even consider taking a shot over 300 yards. Part of their disdain for Long Range Hunting is that they know in their own hearts that they don't have the skill or self-discipline to make shots at much of any distance at all and because they can't do it, they assume no one else can. Or maybe they just hate it because someone else can and they can't.

I also appreciate you making this forum a clean, family friendly place for respectful discussion without a bunch of trolls ruining it.

By the way, some may not know that LRH was started 19 years ago.

At the time I was a participant in a few other sites. Those other sites became pretty heated often when long range hunting was mentioned.

After a couple years of that kind of disrespect I had had it.

I started the LRH site and made it a sanctuary of sorts for long range discussions.
