I have a Remington 722 in .257 roberts. It was manufactured in 1951. I bought a H-S Precision conversion to BDL drop magazine style. Last week I shipped the gun to MPI Stocks and I have ordered the Silhouette Thumbhole in green with black and tan webbing. Once the rifle returns I will put on a Nikon Monarch in 2.5-10X42 with BDC. It will be mounted with lightweight, one piece Talley rings. John Treakle, local Gunsmith will do the trigger adjustment to 3 lbs. Total weight after completion should be around 7 lbs.

I have the nikon bdc, i just sold my 270 to my cousin. So i'm going to put it on my rem 308 sps i just bought a couple of weeks ago.

Recognizing that most folks can't afford some of the fancier or more exotic offerings available, this is what I'd recommend and have ordered:

24" Douglas Premium Match Grade barrel in 280 Ackley Improved
Remington 700 action
Rocky Mountain Arms Finish - Gray Teflon coating (can't scratch it!)
Brown Precision Fiberglass bedded stock - pick your finish
Leupold rings & bases
Zeiss 5 x 15 scope

This rifle will do it all with 160 gr Nosler Partition bullets, unless you're hunting Alaska for big bear! It is affordable, and for anything under 500 pounds, you'll never ned anything else. Furthermore, if you don't reload, you can shoot standard 280 Remington or 7MM Express Remington ammo through it.
