Yessir, but 338RPM is not in the chart. I listened to the 'on your mark' they did on the 338RPM and they said that the published velocities were from a 24. they also noticed in testing that the 20" did not lose as much velocity as expected from the 24 and that the 185TTSX they were shooting in Africa was running at 3000FPS from the 20" and they killed a Kudu at over 500 yards. i have no real reason to doubt them.

I think you're crazy if you do buy it. Many other better choices IMO.

I really have to agree that there are many better choices out there. Buy a Savage 338 Lapua and cut the barrel down to 16 inches. That ought to get you to where you want to be and for less than the 338 BEE. Not quite the rifle, but the ballistics should be about right.

If you're just itching for a .338 you could do everything you suggest with a 338-06 A square, or 338 Sherman and 225gr Accubonds. Both are going to have brass readily available forever, and five down in the mag, plus keep weight as far down as you can handle. Similar case capacity.
I still own a .338 WM and don't plan to get rid of it as it's quite accurate and effective. Components are readily available, as is factory ammo.
Another great choice is a 9.3x62.
