Suppressors

They don't. Take the bs $200 tax stamp off. The suppressor itself is reasonable I think.
The tax stamp is separate, it's not included in the prices you see listed. 800.00-1000.00 can, 200.00 tax stamp, I wouldn't say the stamp is the painful part. The only time you get sort of close is on rimfire suppressors where the can might be 300.00 ish then tack on 200.00 more to stamp it.

No kidding….. but you still gotta buy a tax stamp….. still gotta add that bs to the price……
Like I said. A suppressor isn't that bad of a price considering…. I have a few. I don't need you to break it down for me. Giving $200 to the useless government is the painful part.

I think the wait and transfer process is the worst part about it (luckily that is improving). Not having to pay the extra $200 would be nice though.

I also don't see suppressors being much cheaper if they were less regulated. If anything, i think the $200 tax stamp has held manufacturers to tighter pricing/margins and has helped keep the prices down for consumers. But maybe cans would be cheaper to produce at a higher volume if the TS wasn't involved?

Either way, I love my cans and wouldn't let a $200 tax stamp stop me from buying them. Like others have said the $200 was alot more money when it was instituted and at this point, you're only cheating yourself if you let that stop you

Who's letting the tax stamp stop them? I just said it was a bs government fee. Not that I wasn't buying them over it. I have a few and will buy more I'm sure.

The original poster…he said those exact words in his 2nd post. ;)

The process and wait is the dumb part not the fee…my 2 cents. I'd still do it if they doubled the tax, it's so much better for your hearing.
I agree. The wait, the tax, it's all dumb. Should be able to walk in and walk out with one

Having to get a tax stamp for a "silencer" was established in 1934. The fee at that time was $200. That's right, the fee today is the same as it was 89 years ago.
And in the original bill it was going to be pistols. But they pulled pistols out and put suppressors in their place.

I'm waiting for a response from my senators and Mr Trump on this issue. I don't see why I passed the background check to purchase a firearm then have to pass another one for a non-firearm plus pay a tax stamp fee of $200.
IMO a suppressor is nothing more than an additional accessory like a sling or muzzle brake.
This os an overreach by the ATF.
If you look at the price of suppressors in other countries that do not have the NFA BS, the prices for similarly performing suppressors is close to 1/2 the price that we pay in the US. I would hope that if suppressor NFA paperwork, and the tax stamp dissolved that after the initial rush from folks that didn't get one for those reasons passes, that the prices for suppressors in the US would come down a lot.
