I have recently upgraded from a 350 legend to a 450 bushmaster. I purchased a Ruger American gen 2 with a VX-Freedom® 3-9x40. I am looking for suggestions for ammo to use for hunting season.

In the past I used the Hornady FTX 250gr.
Accurate, and it worked, but not always as well as I wanted.

I've since purchased the Barnes Vor-tx ammo, but have yet to take a deer with it.
Based on past experience with Barnes I would try it first.

The 250 ftx/black ammo seems to shoot very well in most rifles....if you are only doing factory ammo I would try a box of it and the barnes, I've heard good things about that particular Barnes bullet/cartridge

If you reload, look into the 225ftx bullets, they are just as good as the 250 and 1/2 the price

I was debating on trying these. There is a few people who i know have had good luck with them.

My Ruger Ranch in .450BM shot the Hornady Black ammo very well. Since I got my .350legend haven't even pulled the .450bm out of the safe.

221 Stone Hammer just under 2500 FPS on my 16 Ruger American is epic. Just need to drop it into some hogs!
