Stuck elk

Hey Gary. This is my mama bobcat born in the spring of 2006. Since we are a bit remote she has lived here on our place & has never been harassed. I have never tried to pet her but can walk right up to her. She is as close to a pet as wild cat can be. Her kitten born in 2017 also resides here now. When ever I'm processing a deer or an elk she is right at my side gorging her self on meat scraps. My not so pet lion also resides around here. After my wife went out the backdoor several times & seeing this critter drinking out of my small animal water dish !!!! Yes my wife insisted I remove it. The water dish that is. This good size tom would never run off when hollered at. He always gives you a bit of a "leave me alone look" & casually walk off. I have many pictures of deer, elk, bears etc. living here. Just part of the remote area. The picture of this lion is in what would be my front yard.

Like the Bobcat....can do without the 'long-tailed bobcat'....if it doesnt act like it is scared....it is a hazard....better too remove it....

That Bobcat really looks healthy yes remove the water dish, he joined the family i guess. if he gives you a "leave me alone look" & casually walk off

A couple years back I contacted Parks & Wild life about the lion. They said there were so few of them in my unit ( 741) that there was no open season here. In order to get a depredation permit he the lion would have had to kill or injure stock or some other nefarious act. So far no such problem . Have found a couple lion kill deer remains over the last two years. He was here first & so is entitled to eat.

If we go along with what fish and game have said in other states....
" there are no mountain lion in that area"....sounds an awful lot like the "there are no wolves in that area".....no need for any there either....
deer also need areas to keep their numbers up so that they can disperse.........another healthy gene pool of cougar is not what we need....and they are well above management numbers....everywhere.....
Trail camera 200 yards above a house with many disappearing geese, chickens and ducks....and three yound kids....which one is next......olsens 022.jpg

Nice pics. There was about a hundred on blm 1/2 mile east of my place yesterday. Another 500 on ranch 2 miles south. I think they're on the move to calving areas. It's good to see some snow after last year, we needed it in the San Luis valley.
All of Colorado is over 100% snow pac :)
