Due to a sudden death of my aunt this fall that shook us all, my uncle decided to give me the most memorable gift I've ever received for Christmas. He walked out of his gun room a couple days before Christmas and set a rifle box on the counter with a box of ammo and said to me "Well seen as myself or anything of my siblings are probably not going to live that much longer I feel this should go to the person who I know will enjoy it the most." One wave short of tears I shakily took the box and just stammered "thank you this means the world to me." A hundred times

As a lefty shooter I own nothing but pretty top shelf firearms but nothing can compare to the place this holds in my heart.
A Marlin 1894CL chambered in 218 Bee. My grandfather bought it new in 1990. The year I was born. It is in 99% new condition a has maybe 15-20 rounds through it. I have an old mid 80's vari x 2c 3x9x40 that I put on it. It just felt fitting.
My grandpa had this and one other 218 bee when I was growing up and I always thought that they were such a cool cartridge. I have always wanted one and never thought I'd get the honor to have one of his.
I just think it's a neat long range varmint cartridge of yesteryear. Who else has a Bee?!!

I'm currently trying to find dies and anymore ammo/brass I can get my hands on. I have 50 rounds of ammo and 50 pieces of brass, but would feel better with 200-250.

Hornady is probably the only new brass you will find and it will be limited production. Reach out to them directly. I would also put in a backorder every place that lists it.

Ok. That's a round I've never heard of. I had to look it up. I love Hornaday's litte blurbs about the rounds. I've done the same thing. Bought a Henry stainless in 45 Colt and a Redhawk in 45 Colt/45 ACP. Next plan is to make a box that will fit both and leave it for my son. He's not super into guns, but we do have a small sentimental streak in us. Hopefully it can be our heirloom.

It's a heartbreaking when we have a family member give us their guns because of age, but helping their legacy live on is worth everything. I expect I'll be getting dad's retirement 686 soon and that's one I'm not anxious to have. Enjoy your memories

I found a Mod 43 on the internet about 10 years ago and couldn't pass it up because of a too-short experience with the .218 Bee when I was a lot younger. Three-digit serial number puts manufacture at 1949, IIRC, which would be the second year of manufacture. It is in very nice condition, which I suspect is a matter of refinishing both wood and metal, but maybe not.

I put a Kollmorgan scope on it, as it is period-specific. I was able to find around 200 pieces of brass on the internet, as well as a set of dies. Shoots very well, and is a lot of fun, but the trigger is ghastly so I shoot other rifles more and this doesn't get the use it deserves.

Anyway, search on eBay -- dies and brass still available. Some of my brass was used, but some was brand new. Super fun rifle. I need more shooting time, not more shooting irons!

When my dad passed I gave his 43 Bee to my Brother In Law due to the awful trigger and silly side-mount. I've intended on replacing the "Bee deficiency" with a Sako L46 but I haven't looked very hard.

Have a ruger 1 myself fun little round, now that I'm getting into lever guns I forgot they made these!

Browning did a reproduction Win 92 in .218 Bee in the 80's-90's too if one wanted a Bee in a lever.

I have a Mossberg heavy barreled 22lr that was my great grandfathers . It has the flip up sight that you can change by flipping up another size hole ( I know that's not the proper term) . It was used in civilian corps training in New York City , they used to shoot in the basements of buildings . Old guns are just cool .
