25-06 is the way to go for sure. I hunted elk with mine last year and dropped a 5x5 at 510 yards in its tracks. I absolutely love the caliber and i also load my own.
I get the feeling the OP means Factory Rifle with Factory Ammo. In this case the clear winner is the 25-06. Now if you Build a 243, and you reload, then the story line begins to blur.
Is there any Off The Shelf 25-06 ammo using the 115gr Berger VLD? For long range, thats about as good as it gets for the 25. I have not bought ammo (other than .22lr) in over 20 years, so other than seeing whats on the shelf when I buy my .22lr ammo, I really do not know. Reloading FTW!
