Spring bait is out *Another Bear down *

Re: Spring bait is out

Mike---Do you hunt that area for deer and if you don't would you mind sending me a PM as to what unit it is? I've still been think about hunting Region R for deer some day. I'm in the draw for an LQ unit near you this year with 5.5PPs (party app with one other guy) and will probably draw, but it's not 100%. Thanks and good luck on your hunts!

I dont hunt there but my buddy does and we have a 100% secrecy policy. Sorry Good look on your LQ draw though

Re: Spring bait is out

No problem Mike, as that's why I said if you didn't deer hunt it yourself. That would also go for any of your friends that might hunt it too. My buddy and I have the same policy on where we hunt in that anyone we take with us must agree not to go back on their own or tell anyone else where it is. So far it has worked well because good spots are too hard to find to take a chance on losing. Take care and kill a big bear up there this month---MIKE

Re: Spring bait is out

So those holes in the barrel look to be about a third of the way down and seem a little smallish. Can they get their fill or does that set up make them work for it. Just curious about the reasoning for your set up.

By the way, packin in that way is pretty cool.

Re: Spring bait is out

The holes are set so they have to work to get the last of the bait. I wish there were less holes and the size seems about right. They chew them bigger If they get frustrated

Re: Spring bait is out

Good luck! Looks like great country. wish I was there instead of sitting here at work.

Re: Spring bait is out

Magnumitis and his dad went for a ride last weekend and checked the baits. Sounds like mine has been hit. the drip bag is gone and the feed is 2/3 -1/2 gone. I will be going up Friday to check the SD card in my camera and restock some feed. Then decide weither or not its worth sitting on this weekend.

Re: Spring bait is out

I'm gonna shoot one on Thursday so you should have several trail cam pics of me skinning it.

Re: Spring bait is out

I spent the weekend working on my bait site. This was the first time I was able to get up there since I put it in 3 weeks ago. I got there and the barrel was twisted around on the single chain and at a 90* to the tree bone dry. So I put another chain on it at the bottom to remedy that problem, now they will have to at least work to get the bottom of the barrel scraped dry. Unfortunatley I had a camera malfunction and have no pictures of what happened to my barrel. I think I have all the issues fixed though. I hung a new drip bag, poured in another 150lbs of feed, couple gallons of honey. Moved my camera to a better location and added a second camera on 30second time laps. so I should definitley have tons of pics when the bear(s) return. I did take some more pics too

That rock ledge is about 275 yards away and is one of 2 possible shooting locations

If you look really close you will see a barrel about an inch low and an inch left of center. This pic was take from the rock ledge

the canyon wall above my bait

heading up the mtn to work on the bait

Re: Spring bait is out *updated*

The more pictures I see, the better I like how that site fits into the terrain. Very well done, the pictures will come. The bears liked it last year, they'll be back.

Re: Spring bait is out *updated*

I got a ton of pics this week I randomly selected a few to share on here. I had about 175 lbs of feed and 6 days later it was empty again. They are starting to hit it pretty hard. I went out thursday and saw the blondeish one come in, watched it for about 30 mins until dark he is there several times a day almost every day. I think there are a couple pretty good bears hitting but they are coming in late.
