Snoring

If I'm really tired I'm THAT guy. In the wild when your making crazy monster noises, it just lets the nocturnal predators know, that thing a little TOO CRAZY FOR ME!

I honestly have people try to figure out what kind of animal or monster was in the field. It was me 🤷‍♂️

C-Pap with rechargeable power or inverter with good 12 volt battery. I am waking way better rested than when I snored without it. I have the 400 watt inverter in my fifthwheel, runs the machine all night with very little drain on the dual 6 volt batteries. Get a sleep test and the machine will change your life and possibly save it.
Same here, travel size c-pap w/battery and solar panel for recharging.....

I also use a C-Pap but have never found a set up that works well out camping/hunting. Tried the inverter/battery setup in Idaho a couple years ago , very poor performance in cold weather. Would charge batterie(s) up every evening with my generator and they wouldn't last 6-7 hrs at the cold temps. Have you found a solution to these situations ?
The newer batteries last around 2 days before you need a charge, get a solar panel and slow charge for one day and you are good to go for 2 more days...

I fell asleep in a blind in the Limpopo once. My wife woke me up when we were surrounded by wart hogs and baboons. They seemed more curious than concerned. The trackers with us thought it was hilarious!

Note about the above comment on the C-Pap machine - Sleep Apnea is a major killer. I had it, I beat it and it has changed my life for the better in many major ways. Don't ignore it! It wears you down in a hundred different ways - then it kills you.
I've had severe sleep apnea for many many years how exactly did you beat it I sure would like to know

My solution to my buddy that snored was pretty simple. No I didn't put him in a game bag! Just put on my Walker high reduction 35NRR muffs and holy cow slept like a baby! Like being in a sensory deprivation room! The only risk is a critter could be ready to chew your butt off but then again deep sleep is worth it!

One thing to think about and ask your local DDS, is could a mouth appliance help decrease your pressure your CPap runs at. decreasing pressure will allow better battery life. In some instances, mandibular repositioning appliance has allowed pts. to be more compliant about using there cpap...Just my .02$

The solo hunting thread got me thinking. I was once told that some animals may hear snoring as dangerous or, worse, threatening. Well, I snore. This seems ridiculous as I'm typing but I sure wouldn't want Bigfoot attacking me while I'm sleeping or, maybe more legitimately, a mountain lion, for example. Thoughts?

Thanks.
Timely and funny topic...
I got back 2 weeks ago from a Deer hunting trip in Idaho...
My hunting buddy and I were base camped @ 8000+ft elevation. When we went to bed, he was snoring in 10 minutes...
Around 1:30AM, a Bull had come in to within 80yds of our base camp, let out a monster bugle and scared the hell out of both of us (he stopped snoring to grab his rifle).
We both kept wondering if the bull had thought he was another elk or was sick and tired of not getting any sleep, and was just swinging by to tell him to "shut up"

Hilarious.

My wife uses the snoring machine (the mask and hose with a little water circulating? - seems to help.)
That and she used a slightly elevated bed - special pillow, etc. Moi - I just doze off and guess I do snore a little sometimes ? - but don't notice it?

Hey - our little Pug snores too. :)

I had gradually lost control of my weight. Got to 399 and couldn't bear the thought of seeing '400'. I found a good doctor and got my weight back down to 235. That was in 2005 in prep for my Tanzania hunt in 2007. Still at 235. Totally changed my life. Turns out low T had a lot to do with it.

According to my doctor I should be under 190 pounds I am about 220 but I've been down to 200 a couple of times and it did not help but I am hypothyroid and take medication for that maybe low t is something I should look at

LOL - a law school buddy of mine was an All-american Tackle at Cal - and laster played some pro football.

He was hunting Elk at age 64 (had been on numerous African Safaris as well) and started coughing up some blood. He went to the Doc who told him to lose weight.

HE replied - But Doc - like a lot of former football lineman - YES - I am up to 4 Bills but this never happened before. The Doc said - ok - but you were not 64 before either.

He lost over 100 lbs - and went hiking up BC hills after Dall sheep and got one. :)

I only got up to 270 but it does affect everything negatively - and am now back to more or less my playing weight - 210 - but need to get down to under 200 - as it's clearly not all muscle anymore. :)

I snore like loudly and have spent up to six months at a time living in a tent in areas where mountain lions and black bears are regularly seen. I have found tracks for both walking through camp and never had an issue. I did have a mountain lion scream about 30 yards from me. It scared the crap out of me but the mountain lion never acted aggressively. There was another mountain lion making a bunch of noise about a half mile off and I think that is what set off the closer cat. I did find a rattle snake in my tent once and another time found scorpions in my sleeping bag.
