Sierra Gamechanger bullets.

I wonder if the data for the Sierra #1535 90gr FMJBT would be a good starting point for these. 3100 FPS from a 90gr with a .490 BC is quite tempting.
I loaded up some 90gr game changers in my .243 win. Shooting it out of a Savage Axis I was able to get well beyond 3100fps with a 20" barrel. The lands and magazine allowed me to go to 2.840" oal. I used IMR-4350. Shot it half a dozen times or so, before I ran out of time, but groups were under an MOA.

[QUOTE="Hatrick, Suppose I was coming there to hunt. Could I carry them in or ship them ahead or does it have to be loaded ammo?[/QUOTE]

Hi Hatrick, Here in NZ we have very good laws regarding importing shooting gear. I can't import an action (basically just the receiver) without an import permit but I can import a barrel or magazine or bolt. We also have restrictions on MSSA rifle parts. I can import cases and bullets (and have) but the problem is no one in the USA will export them. If you were coming here for a hunt you could bring bullets with you or you could post them ahead but you would want to make sure it didn't land you in trouble with the US authorities. Plenty of people come here to hunt and bring their rifles and ammo, you would need to apply for a NZ import and export permit for your rifle well before your trip but it is just a formality.

Thank You, I had no Idea of your rules. Have only hunted in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

I'm definitely not as experienced as most of you, but I report this . I am getting .89 groups at just over 3200 with these and RL 33 in my 28 Nosler. I don't have any gel or anything to shoot but I'm bettin they'll turn a big deer's lights out pronto!
James,

James, I'm considering this bullet for my new 28N barrel that will be chambered soon. Could you provide the overall length and length from base to ogive for this bullet?
Do you know how much jump your chamber had on your loads that gave you .89 groups?

I don't know about off the lands but my oal 3.360 so they're a little longer than the factory length of 3.340. I'm just getting started reloading and don't have the stuff to measure what you want. I used 88g of RL33. It's an MRC X2 rifle.

I been shooting the 130 6.5 in a factory 264 win mag getting 5/8-3/4 groups at 100. I talk to sierra they told me these bullets have a real thick jacket! im ready to see how they perform on game!

I just got a box of the 7mm gc bullets
Right on the box it says tipped game king

Cut one open and compared it to a 162 eld-x...the jacket on the siera is thicker and the tip is both externally and internally larger and longer than the hornady bullet.

Cut them both apart and The boat tail on the siera is slightly longer, the bearing surface is about the same--- the eldx has a longer tapered ogive (hybrid ?)and the siera' s ogive seems more rounded (kinda tangent?) ,the eldx seems more secant than the GC strange thing is my eldx had no "interlock ring" in the jacket

Would you please post a pic of those bisected bullets side by side please?

Please.

How? I don't have any online pic accounts like imgur (or what ever it's called) --- pm me your email and then you can post them for me?

I just measured the jtl in my rifle and the siera gc's hit the lands at .015" further than the 162 eldx's

I can upload pics straight off my iPhone, if you have that capability.
When you reply hit "upload a file" right under "post reply".
