Nosler Neck sized brass
CCI 200 primers
42.0 gr R19
Berger 130 vld
COL 2.895

MV 2613fps
SD 6
ES 16
High 2623fps
Low 2607fps

Rifle specs:
Snowy Mountain Rifle co built Remington 700 SA
Kreiger 26" 4 groove 8 twist

This load produces consistent .5 moa 5 round groups in my rifle. So far my best is about a .35 moa group at 200yds. My only concern is that I'm sort of lacking in the velocity department. Another load that I have found to shoot well is 140vlds @ 2505fps though there was noticeable improvement in switching to the 130s.

Would y'all think it's worth it to switch up powders or keep pushing more with the R19? The Berger manual lists 43.0gr as max for the 130 vlds and I know my groups open up considerably between 42.2 and 43.0.

I hear reports fairly regularly about guys hitting 2750fps with 140s in both the 6.5 creedmoor and 260rem out of 24-26" tubes. I just feel like I could benefit with 200fps gain.

My AR Creed outruns that by quite a bit and the 260 SHOULD be a lil quicker. My AR is also a 24 so you should be 30-50 faster on barrel length alone. I would kick it up a bit myself if pressure looks OK.

That does seem slow. I'll probably get in trouble here again; but my 6.5X47 shoots a 130 berger at 3000 fps. This is a full custom with a 26" barrel. I don't have any experience with a 260 but maybe try some H4350. I agree with toddc that your 260 should be a few fps faster than my 6.5X47. I also would scrap the Nosler brass and buy some Lapua.

Those numbers do seem on the low side.

I use H4350 with a 140 gr Berger VLD in my .260 Rem and run it at 2750 very comfortably. It's a tack driver at that node.

You can buy 140-142 gr factory loads that run 2700-2750 fps. So your load seems a little low as far as potential.

I did not have much luck with RL19 in either of my 260's. H4831SC rules around here. RL 26 is going to be my next effort. I have not tried the 130VLD. Your 43 gr load seems low considering hornadys data say 48gr for 2900. I would not hesitate to go up from 43 in 1/2 gr increments with your COAL of 2.895.

I would watch out when shooting in higher temps RL19 had some serious spikes at higher temps in my 30-06.

RL 26 sounds like the newer velocity king with the 260. Check out Bergers data on line for the new Classic Hunter. Your velocity is right in line with hornadys data at 43gr.

Good luck and shoot straight

Bob

I have to agree that your numbers are on the show side. It may speed up some after a few hundred rounds. I'm running a match chambered 23" Brux with 42.8gr Rl17 & 140 Amax/ELD-M @ 2840'. This is on my high end node & conversely my low end is 41.5gr H4350 & 142smk @ 2640 is killer accurate, but not the speed I was looking for. There is a load of info for the 260 over on the hide btw. A few guys I know using AR platform 260's are having good success with Ramshot Hunter. I'd run a ladder to find out where your max is as far as pressue for your components & rifle that way you can find a good zone on the upper end to work in. Gotta love the 260 :D

H4350, h4831 both should get you above 2800fps and are usually pretty accurate powders

+1!!

Look for minimum of 2750fps with 140 grainers

Your 26" barrel should be good for more than that too!!!!

If you have room in your case left and no pressure signs I'd try to keep pushing it up some. There's no reason you should be running that slow with just a 130gr bullet.

If you can't get to where you want to be with acceptable accuracy and no pressure signs, try laying your hands on some RL23. RL 26 fills the case really fast and you end up with compressed loads unless you're just barely seating the bullet deep enough to get some neck tension so I'm trying to see what I can do with RL23. I've got a bunch loaded up now to test with RL19, 23, 26 and even a few with H1000 that I'm going to give a good workout tomorrow if everything falls into place. My goal is 2,750-2,800 with 130's and 2,700-2,750fps with 140's in hopefully a sub .5 MOA load.
