I have a Ruger No.1 250 Savage 10 twist. It shoots very well. Using 110gr ELDX I'm currently getting 2775 fps. With this bullet its 2.621 to touching lands on fired case. This is the most accurate load @ 2.575col 38gr 6.5 staball @2775 avg .6moa 3shot. It did well @2.600 38.5 2800 .75moa. I still had no pressure signs other than slightly flat primer @2800. I do get a lot of case stretch, trim every time. I'm about to get trigger worked and also thinking about rechambering to 250 sav AI. Seems to be many redding dies available 250 sav AI. For all you AI guys do you think it's worth it? From reading 250 Savage is a round that benefits a lot with AI case about 125fps. Thats about 100yds more effective range from velocity of 2051 energy 1027 @ 400yds to exact same @ 500yds. Would that be worth the trouble and money to you? Talked to 2 smiths one said $125 other $160.
pluses
100yds more effective range.
less case stretch.
could resize 6.5 CM cases without fireforming 250 sav cases.

You can resize a 6.5 CM case into a 250AI without fireforming?

I've done a few AI conversions over the years and it's interesting & fun, but it is rarely needed IMO. Is another 100fps worth the smith work, new dies, etc? Only you can answer that one.
I'm asking if it was worth it to the guys that have done it, mostly. Did they, after fact think it was worth it? From what I read, people are resizing 6.5cm right into 250 sav AI using the redding die. There have been some not using redding other custom dies that it didnt work. I guess it depends on the specs you give the smith or what he uses vs what die you have. Since its not a standard, it could very.

257ai
280ai
7x57ai
244ai in the works now
Man I'm drooling over all those. Did you start off with as it'd base cartridge? Or most AI builds from start?

An option to rechambering would be going to a lighter bullet. I've seen data posted below showing a 22" 250 Sav pushing a 90 HH running in excess of 3200 fps. The AB app gives the following for the two bullets at 500 yards:

110 ELDX 90 AH
MOA 10.0 7.5
FPS 1893 1945
Energy 875 756
