Bighorns have started to become an obsession for me and for those of you who have killed them in the lower 48, how far were your shots? I've heard from 50-300 is average but that was a small pool of hunters.
Very nice ram! CongratsJust returned from Mexico...shot my Desert Bighorn at 220-230 (compensated)...couldn't tell you LOS distance, but my 7 Rem Mag did the trick View attachment 175055
I've taken a Rocky (162 pt) in Colorado at 270 yds uphill in a avalanche chute, probably 60+° angle. I used a 150 gr Hornady spire point in my 270 Weatherby mag. He sat down and finally decided to die and rolled at least half way down to me. I've also taken a Rocky in Arizona (181 pts) at 340 yds with a 140 gr Failsafe (now discontinued by Winchester). used my 270 Roy again. He was DRT. So it looks like right in your average.
