Short barreled 7mm info

How are they reloading the Federal, or is that even a possibility with the steel case?
I'm not a reloader yet. Obviously I'll need to get started if I go wildcat. However, as stated, Federal just released a video where they added a slight flare before seating the bullet. I've read that it will not be able to be annealed and this limiting cases to only be used 4-5 times before degradation leads to necks cracking. I know some reloaders don't anneal brass neither. All that is above my pay grade. I'd go that direction, but I figured it wouldn't be the cartridge to start on. As far as factory loads go, seems viable. However, I want to see more real world accuracy tests who aren't sponsored.

Federal just released a video on this yesterday. I haven't watched it yet.
Interesting concept, and if it pans out it's going to be a game changer for sure, but there are many questions I would have. How is it ever going to fireform to a quality chamber, case life, which includes many things, but if you can run 80 or 90,000 pressure or whatever they're claiming definitely a game changer if real accuracy can be attained. Barrel life would seem to be extremely short with the heat generated to create the extreme pressure. I've heard very little about it, but it is an interesting idea. Just wonder if the public is the bulk of the experiment here. I will say I bought a few boxes of Federal factory ammo for my 7PRC when I got it, and they're not fast, 2840, but they're all running within 6 or 7 fps with a very rare outlier. First factory ammo I bought since I don't know when besides rimfire and did it mainly because I didn't have any brass, but the 175 grain Fusion shoot really well.

I'd opt for 280ai if I was doing a custom build and if it was not for the fact that I have a stockpile of 7wsm factory ammo and components.

I have a 7mm rem mag, 280ai and 7wsm all with nominal unsuppressed barrel lengths and they are factory rifles so typical factory twist rates.

The 280ai is the most accurate and the 7rm is 3/4 MOA at 100y with almost any 160-168 grain factory ammo I feed it. I'm not messing with changing either.

The 7wsm was woefully inaccurate. However, a friend of mine sold off his 7wsm rifles around the time I acquired mine and I got a lot of ammo and brass so I'm not worried about components (although I too would like to have the option of Lapua, Peterson, ADG, etc. better brass).

Recently, I swapped the original pretty laminate stock with a Win70 Coyote stock. Now it is definitely sub-moa, even with the factory 160AB ammo that was 3-5moa with the old stock. So now I need to test what I have but still seems like the best option for a shorter suppressor ready option given what I already have to work with. Possibly I will chop it and/or swap it to a shorter barrel.

If I go the route of a custom build for that need, the 7saum and 280ai will be on the list. I do like the latter because personally I like to see both components as well as factory ammo options for any new platform I invest in.

It looks like you're working with a short action based on the chamberings you're looking at. Do you have an action already that you're working with?

The best way to approach this is to pick the velocity you want with your given bullet weight, and then find the cartridge that will get you there.
