Short action magnum Cartridge Choice

Going with the 300 WSM was the optimum choice, you get a cartridge that has more ammo and brass support than the abbreviated SAUMS and offspring, also there is a few more brass options coming soon, the WSM case is about to go epic

I appreciate the support of my decision. Your comment has me curious, what new brass options? Because, while I have not had any problem finding brass, I was a bit shocked at how expensive higher quality brass is for the 300wsm. And by higher quality I am talking Norma and Nosler. Although Nosler thinks highly of their brass in any cartridge.

Nosler brass is nothing more than prepped up re-branded Norma brass with a higher price tag, while it is very good in dimension and produces great accuracy, it is soft in the case head, primer pockets typically last maybe 3 firings and you are done, of course I'm talking about max loads, why wouldn't I ? I am convinced that is by design to sell more brass and that includes Hornady and Federal brass ,

ALL of the brass manufacturers have the capability to produce brass that will last 20 + firings but refuse to do so simply because of sales, BUT that is business and sales are the goal, regardless of the longevity of the product, brass manufacturers are only concerned about having their product work the one time, my recent foray into custom made brass proved the above and nothing will convince me otherwise, unscrupulous business owners intent on taking your $$$ and nothing more.......... Most Europeans use factory ammo because of restrictions imposed by their .GOV and one shot is all that is expected....... most Americans shoot , eject and walk away, then there are those spoiled Amerikaners that want multiple firings then cook the top of the case and squeeze the bottom for more........ that is us guys n gals .......

Welcome the smaller brass US manufactures such as Petersen and ADG...... these folks have a gigantic audience waiting to hear their song... and folks... they produce some top notch brass... as they should.... to make a good showing and prove their worth, there is a certain brass company that will go belly up in short order once these guys get cranking, simply their own undoing for failing their customers and refusing to resolve the issues, RIP ................ along with these guys their is another US brass company that will be producing "Lapua quality and better" brass as the owner explained to me, so now that gets us back to the gist of my response..... they have produced and tested a quantity of 300 WSM brass than lasted 22 firings before loss of primer pocket integrity........ now that is something to look forward to and I have pre-ordered long action mags from Mountain Tactical for my two Tikka 300 wsm's to run long action, the 300 WSM is about to get reborn.............

Just broke in a new barrel for my son-in-law in 7mm WSM the day before his hunt started. Brent at Western Precision Rifles installed the 1:8 twist 26" Bartlein barrel he chambered perfectly for the 195 EOLs seated 0.015 off lands. Very little break-in required. First full loads with 67gr Retumbo produced 2900 fps and fired a four-shot, 1 inch group at 300 yards after sighting it in with 5 shots (during break-in). Thought at the time it had to be a fluke. Put advertized G7 BC in shooter app and hit 1200 yard plate on first attempt. Fired a few more rounds to confirm results. Simply a phenomenal rifle. Consistently accurate from the first shot. Stopped there went hunting
