Both my daughters have Remington model 7s in 7mm/08. They have taken elk, deer a bear and a moose all with one shot kills. I have taken two cow elk both at about 300 yards with one, also one shot kills. Put a 140 partition in front and this is a very efficient hunting round.

Another vote for the .260. The sectional density of the heavy for caliber bullets is great as is the BC, and the .260 will give you more speed than the 6.5cm if you reload.

Not to hikack thread but wild u guys say 260 or 260AI over the 6.5 cm and 7/08 of sticking with 140 pills?

Run a standard .243 WIN with a 7 or 8 twist barrel, you can push Berger 105's close at 3,300fps with Reloder 26. I hit pressure at a little over 3,400
Proof doesn't make fast twist barrels but carbon six does.

Proof makes 6mm barrels in 1:7.5" & 1:7.62 twist. Plenty fast for the 105-110. Probably even the 115s.

I have a Remington Model 600 Mohawk in 243 that I shot when I was a youngster and my son will soon shoot too.

Yes. It is a Proof. I went 6mm 22" 1:7.5".

Or, just run a 20" barrel like the Model Sevens do. Makes for a very handy little rifle.

I'd choose the 7-08. If I wanted a 6.5, I'd choose the 260.

Yep, same here...Except if I were getting a rifle built, I'd go for 7mm-08 AI or .260 AI.

Only if you have a little extra mag length.

I like my 7-08s. Versatile and more than enough for a 300-400 yard light rifle.
