I believe this article by the late Nick Harvey is a valuable read, and the other contributions he's published as well. I found it while researching various characteristics of the 243Win for a project I've taken on. I'm accurizing a Ruger M77MKII (Zytel stock) for a good friend and want some historical background on the cartridge. It would apprear that Mr. Harvey decicated most of his life to our passion - shooting and hunting. The Winchester techie surmizing that primer ignition (among other factors) causing the powder column to push the bullet into a potentially eroded throat before igniting the powder and causing/contributing to catastrophic issues was eye opening and thought provoking. I may start lightly crimping some of my loads going forward.
Thank You Mr. Harvey. God Bless You. Rest in Peace.
