What carrier are you guys normally using when you ship scopes?

Does UPS/the UPS Store, ship scopes again, now?

What is your average cost to ship a scope, before insurance?

Pirateship will save you a ton. You pick what carrier you want to use after viewing rates from different carriers. I ship scopes using the UPS store as a drop off after using Pirateship. They never even ask what's in them, scan the label and give me drop off receipt.

I don't see where I can add Insurance for a higher value scope. Does that page or prompt come up after I set up an account and start filling out which carrier, or what size box I want to ship?

I've been using that site for years, and recommend it to everyone I can. It's fantastic. Has saved me hundreds.

Pirate Shipping uses both UPS and USPS. Compares shipping costs for both. For me the convenience of just dropping off a package without standing in a line makes it worthwhile.

"The UPS Store" is an independently owned and operated retail store. They are required to comply with UPS restrictions. UPS restricts the shipment of gun parts by individuals. Optics are not considered gun parts by UPS and should be accepted by The UPS Store. However, some owner/operators are not aware of the nuance and may not accept a "rifle scope". Labeling it an "optic" is completely honest and can avoid the issue. Always package it securely and add the appropriate amount of insurance value. Insurance will cover it for loss during shipping but not damage if personally packed.
I believe USPS will accept shipment of non-regulated gun parts by individuals.
I am not familiar with how FedEx or any of its proxies operate.
