Seeking advice? or just looking to argue

Tone is really hard to relay in this format. I think sometimes people assume a rebuttal is an argument. Some people get upset when someone challenges their stance. That doesn't mean it was meant to be demeaning.

In person people can read faces and body language. Without that people can be quick to assume someone is being more aggressive than they really are.

I think this is a contributing factor most definitely... however the format and similar communications(text/email etc) have been around long enough for people to convey their thoughts respectfully, weather you agree with what's being said or not.. just my opinion for sure.

As eluded to above common courtesy is a thing of the past for most people. I always try to give my honest opinion to the topic based on factual info that I have from my own personal experiences and leave it at that. You just can't fix ignorance and stupidity. There are some great guys on here that are plum full of knowledge and they always give great informed feedback. I have learned tons from them in my ten or so years on this forum. You just have to sort through the weeds.

Many people on social media aren't looking for answers or advice, they are only looking for affirmation. They only want to be told what they want to hear and anything else is taken as offensive.

Absolutely! In my 7ish years here I have learned so much and that's why I come back everyday to continue learning.

If you think you know everything your WRONG! Some of us are here just to enjoy common interests and maybe learn a little something.Personally i dont find condescending talks pleasant You shouldnt have to be afraid to ask a question of people with more knowledge on subjects than you have.
