ThinkN there's some folks out there with a bit more money than everyday country boys. In 2022 Houston livestock show and rodeo, 16 year old girl, sold at auction, her Grand Champion Steer for $1,000,000 bucks. Probably, no doubt going straight to the meat locker plant. No hunt, no memories, no antlers on the wall, just the prime steaks. Wish I was Mr Gates, They'd haul my money in in crates; Springsteen

Yepper, I consider my myself fortunate to have drawn a cow tag in 2020 after entering all 18 draws in a row, my son drew a cow tag last late season after 20 years of drawing...something that hasn't happened my times over the 20 years..I believe I read somewhere there are about 1700 people who have entered every year and never been drawn. It's all truly luck and I still keep entering hoping for another tag and honestly I'd love to have a bull tag but would be tickled to get another cow tag...they grill up just the same.. I enjoy taking 1000's of photos every year and spend countless hours traveling the entire range and shooting pics...I've photographed some of the largest Bull's that have ever walked the earth, anywhere...many times I put a cross hair in the viewfinder..lol.....I post pics and information to let fellow elkoholics see what's been going on and how things are getting better, not to argue or cause controversy...enjoy the photos coming..

No, just saying that more people Hunt for FOOD, than hunt for a Trophy wall hanger! Get your wall hanger if that is what "shows" up to shoot! But don't waste any of the Food! Many that hunt horns, do(?).
If it wasn't for the Horn - Trophy hunters, everyone would still be shooting spikes and 4 points.
What states besides Colorado
Idaho oregon for non residents and residents. Montana for residents if not mistaken few units in wyoming too
Was $321,000 the final bid?

Last I saw was $326K and that was 3 hours before it ended, God only knows..don't worry I'll find out..

I hunt for trophy animals. Take enough other animals over the years. Trophy animals are in the eyes of the hunter. Lots of hunters graduate into trophy hunters. It become far to easy to drop an animal for some. So why shot or bow hunt a little animal. The bigger horned animals are lot smarter, and didn't get big by being stupid. So they are a hell of lot harder to take. So it put you up against them. A lot of those type of hunter put up the money, and time to take a big animal. Lots go home without an animal. Oh they could have taken several different animals, but didn't. That's no sport, and it's fun to see them and let them go.
The person that can pay $326K that's neither good nor bad. It nice to have those funds to do that with. If he worked for those fund all the better. I would like to do that, but can't. No hard feeling either way about it.
Over the years I have taken $700.00 coming out of the Army in 1970 and turned it over 1000's of times and retained it. I had fun most of the time doing that. My wife will be taken care of after I long gone. So I have made my mark. I didn't to get to hunting in as many areas I want too, but that life. No complains about it either. Don't be down on the person that can do it.

Don't think for a second that PA or REMF have the best interest in conservation at heart!!
A few years ago the draw was 123 elk for the year. 1 week. Rifle, bow, muzzle loader combined.
Game Commission released statement that the number of pregnant cows was way down. Just happened to coincide with a record number of predators, namely bears & coyotes.
So what do they do?
Add 2 archery elk seasons, and immediately up the quota to 143 elk.
Last year someone from Idaho was one of the first 3 names drawn.

Who has over 12,000 non resident elk tags for sale!!!
13 years of entering the lottery as a resident. No tag yet.

Every state has a tag quota. Idaho residents say same thing about non residents which is why f&g changed everything 2 years ago. Either way they got a quota and percentage goes to non resident.
