Seat depth, what is really being tuned?

Got out to do some pressure testing on one of my rifles yesterday, 300 win mag, and got a baseline pressure and barrel time figured out for a accuracy load I've previously worked up and has the bullet sitting .010" off the lands. Hopefully I get the work on my truck wrapped up in the next two hours and can extrapolate some data with Quickload to come up with a place to start testing pressure and barrel time with the bullets set at .120" off the lands and then fine tune the powder charge and seat depth a little to see if I can get another accuracy load at the shorter CBTO measurement. I'll post up photos and specific data once I get farther along and if I actually come up with something worth while.
