Scope turrets?

Scope turrets? I have acquired custom scope turrets from Leupold for two of my rifles and have yet to shoot them at long range. I have in the interim learned the difference between the G1 and G7 configuration in bullet BC and its calculations. I contacted Leupold today to order another turret and the tech mentioned that they only do their calculations w/ the G1 stats. I'm shooting the Lapua Scenar ( a G7 config). Two questions how much difference does this make (G1 vs G7) and if it does, who if anyone, makes a turret to fit my AR 7 and Mark four scopes that use the correct dope.

Thanks: 217gun)

I shoot a 6.5x284 using 140gr. Berger VLD's and have found that out to 1000 yards the differences between G1 and G7 are not material enough to make a difference. I had set my turrets up using G1 as well and the drop data is nuts on out to 1000 yards The data shown in Bryan Litz's book appears to confirm this with G7 coming into play at the longer ranges. I'm putting together a 338 Lapiua for shooting out to 1400 yards and will use the G7 format for this rig.

I don't know how many revolutions they are customizing your turrets for.

But, G1 is usually good for a couple of full revolutions on most scopes.

Beyond that, you're better off to stick with MOA/MIL/clicks because by the time you really need a G7 BC, you also need a computer to start factoring atmospheric conditions, spin drift, corriolis, etc which contradicts the premise behind the custom turrets.

Thx for the info Richard. Plan on obtaining the G7 LRBC or something similar for the new build when it arrives.
