Scope Resale Value

I guess I will have to look at an Arken closer, I shot a EP series scope 2 years ago--glass was--ehhh very middle of the road--, it weighed like 36 oz, turrets were big and clunky, and that particular scope ended up fogging--so I kind of wrote them off.

I have a 4-32x NX8 and this Burris XTR3 (link below)

I don't feel I lose anything going to the XTR3. Is the NX8 better? I'm sure it is but I've used that Burris a LOT and never had a single complaint about it.

The FFP reticle is great, glass is great, and the turrets dial well with crisp clicks. For $900 it's a no brainer.
Edit: I missed your desire for MILS, there is a same model for another $200 in MILS.

I realize that there are some Vortex haters out there but I'm one of those guys who bought their first one thinking I'd "upgrade" at some point but ended up really liking the scope. I now run 4 different Vortex scopes and they are all fantastic and amazing bang for the buck. Pretty much anything in the Viper, Strike Eagle, and of course, the Razor lines, will do what you want it to do. Plenty of sales out there and Vortex has a great Military and First Responded options. IF you have any problem with the scope, the Vortex warranty will take care of the problem. Easy button...

Check out some of the arken scopes . Not at the top of your budget but good value scope for the money .Also the classified section and a used scope . Use caution ⚠️ don't post a want to buy as it's a scammers paradise. There are always good deals from respectable members on here that could get you into the scope your after on a budget.
Check on civilian marksman program website. They auction military nightforce scopes every now and then.

My wife and kids gifted me a Springfield Waypoint in 6.5prc for Christmas. The eventual goal is to top it with a Nightforce NX8 2.5-20, but I have to squirrel money away for awhile to get there.
Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction for the time being. I am looking for a mil scope with a tree reticle, ffp, exposed elevation turret, and illumination for under $1000. Any suggestions for a scope with a 3-4 lower and 15-20 upper end for under $1000. So far I am looking at the vortex pst 3-15, primary arms glx 3-18, and maybe something in the burris xtr line.
My question is, among those choices, or any other options you might suggest hold their value best on the used market? Thanks
I've gone with the Athlon Midas TAC and it's a good scope for the money while waiting to save up for the NF.

I have scopes of many flags....Nightforce NXS, Burris, Valdada, Leupold, Barska, Bushnell, Minox, Leica, Unertl, and a few others I can't even remember. They're all mounted on relativey flat shooting rifles. Recently I had a Millet Scope go bad...the crosshairs clocked about 30 degrees! Millet scope warranty is handled by Bushnell. I called and talked to a fella at Bushnell cust. service, and they sent me a Bushnell replacement with all the bells and whistles that the Millett tactical scope had. Specifically, here's the scope: Match Pro ED 5-30x56 Riflescope straight up, no money, no questions asked. Then I called him to bitch about the rings, because the Millet was 35 mm and the Match Pro was 34 mm. He sent me some rings free of charge as well! I was impressed with their customer orientation...big time! I mounted it on a 30-06 that I use a lot for shooting/load development (not hunting) at various distances ...admittedly usually 300 yards or less. This rifle is reasonably light weight, kicks like a mule, and is the same rifle that destroyed the Millett. The darn thing is pretty impressive. You can get one for a lot less than $1000, and have a few hundred to buy those other necessities, you mentioned. If I had one on a rifle like yours, I might get so used to it that I'd never buy that Nightforce. Here's the Bushnell URL: https://www.bushnell.com/scopes/shop-all-scopes/match-pro-ed-5-30x56-riflescope/BU-MP53056DMI.html Notice the 28 5 star reviews listed. You could count me # 29! You can probably get it for even less on other sites...that's the Bushnell site. Scopes are funny creatures... some people have good luck with lower priced scopes, and sometimes the high priced divas are not at all what you'd expect.
Good luck whatever you decide.

I would love to do that, but I refuse to have credit card debt and current funds only allow for around 1k of expendable cash (that is above what I already factored in for some ammo and scope rings). I "need" to start shooting this thing and would like a stepping stone to have a little fun before I can justify the nightforce.
Especially buy ARKEN now....25% off ...your budget is golden... and you can afford the 7 x 35 x 56 as well ! Merry Christmas to All

I'm not one for assuming credit card debt, but I suspect the cost of the credit card debt, along with risk assumed with a used or low tier scope, and, your desire/plan to upgrade to your "ultimate goal anyway"……May be the better economic decision, and justify getting the scope you really want…Costing less in the long run, and enabling you to get down to serious, high confidence shooting with your new rifle. .IMO.

Wish our government thought that way.

I was in similar shoes a while ago. Wanted a ffp and a longer reach. I found the 5-25 Strike eagle and am very satisfied with it. They also have a 3-18 ffp Strikeagle which meets your requirements. Both can be found for under $1K,

Arken is a good rifle scope, for the money. But when we are shooting at below zero, Arken scopes will not always dial correctly. We have many members who use Arken scopes that this happens too! Sometimes in the single number temperatures, same thing, will not dial to changing scope zero. Go Figure
