I would love to do that, but I refuse to have credit card debt and current funds only allow for around 1k of expendable cash (that is above what I already factored in for some ammo and scope rings). I "need" to start shooting this thing and would like a stepping stone to have a little fun before I can justify the nightforce.

Be aware that some of the "Credit Cards" offer 0% interest for 6 months to a year. I've used this a few times, as long as you make monthly payments.

I have a used LRHS I'd sell. I shot it on my ne of my 22 creeds for about a year.
$700 and you can probably get that out of it when you sell.

I like the overall size of that scope and the reticle. Looks like a good match for a large frame gasser.

My wife and kids gifted me a Springfield Waypoint in 6.5prc for Christmas. The eventual goal is to top it with a Nightforce NX8 2.5-20, but I have to squirrel money away for awhile to get there.
Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction for the time being. I am looking for a mil scope with a tree reticle, ffp, exposed elevation turret, and illumination for under $1000. Any suggestions for a scope with a 3-4 lower and 15-20 upper end for under $1000. So far I am looking at the vortex pst 3-15, primary arms glx 3-18, and maybe something in the burris xtr line.
My question is, among those choices, or any other options you might suggest hold their value best on the used market? Thanks

Just get the Arken and you will find you don't need the nx8 I have both. You won't be disappointed

Check out some of the arken scopes . Not at the top of your budget but good value scope for the money .Also the classified section and a used scope . Use caution don't post a want to buy as it's a scammers paradise. There are always good deals from respectable members on here that could get you into the scope your after on a budget.

I used to be in the mindset, you have to have optics in excess of 1500.00. Of course that was several years ago now before the whole optic industry got to where it is recently. To think, I have a small fortune invested in optics (NF,Valdada,Leica,Leopold,Burris,Meopta,Trijicon,Vortex,Zeiss) over the last twenty years nearly makes me ill. It's an obsession, like an addiction. You do not need a $2,500.00 plus scope nowadays. Spend a little time doing some youtube search and you'll see side-by-side analysis/comparisons against the top-tier 2500+. Look for Arkan Optics. Under $600.00
I wish I could sell all my high dollar optic for .10 on the dollar but no one wants five, ten to twenty year old glass nowadays even though, mine are crystal sharp, they don't have newest reticles new shooters feel they need.

@allcheck, this is why I never ask what scope to buy, just like my stance when building or buying a rifle.
