Scope clearance

Putting the objective close to the barrel isn't beneficial for that very condition, it is just the result of one trying to reduce scope height to obtain a cheek weld. I won't own a rifle without an adjustable cheek weld anymore. It really is that important to accuracy. So, the typical clearance of my scopes is 3/8" with scope Height Over Bore 1.7-2". No worries about scope cap clearance, scope flex, brass ejection. It is the easy button for scoped rifles.

Not a problem with 22-250 case length. 308 family.
Yeah, it may not be a problem at all. Just for info, the rifle to which I was referring that was having the ejection issue due to low scope mount is a Tikka T3X Super Varmint in 6.5 Creedmoor. No problem to go to a higher mount because of the adjustable comb.

Getting a scope as close as possible to the barrel is such a 1980s way of thinking. Get it to where your head is in a comfortable position with a proper cheekweld no matter where the scope is height wise. All modern software allows for scope height above the centerline of bore.
Software?
