Use a different password for EVERY forum. Don't make up dumb passwords like "Deerhunter123". A strong unhackable password is something like this:
hP7$wUv!2pJ!2h7W$, as an example.

I will make bizarre passwords like this, and same them all to an excel spreadsheet that is password protected. That way, you can have difficult and varied passwords for each website, but you only have to remember the password to your sheet. And the odds of someone specifically getting into your computer and breaking into that sheet are extremely low, so it seems one of the more safe alternatives.
