NFA is constitutionally illegal anyways. I wouldn't say anything to him as long as he minds his business and doesn't point that thing at me.
If he gets hemmed up, his actions are on him.
By not saying anything maybe you save his life. Wouldn't want David Chipman shooting him and his dog in front of his family.

I have a CMMG Banshee in .40 cal that is classified as a pistol, not an SBR. I think the only thing that makes the difference between an AR-style pistol and an SBR is the whether or not you have a foregrip on it. When I shot it at the range, they specifically asked me to shoot on the pistol range. Of course, I did have an optic installed and was able to hit the target, unlike the guy in your example.
Here are what appears to be a bunch of SBRs but in reality are AR 15 PISTOLS; with adjustable braces. If you call it a STOCK its a SBR.

Not exactly, you put a butt stock on that pistol, it is now an SBR also. If it has a brace you are fine for now.

A 9mm PC carbine, which looks exactly as a short barreled AR, with a collapsible "brace", is legally bought and registered as a pistol, and is legal to own without a stamp, the ATF ruled so. The receiver is designed to accept Glock style mags. The guy who sold it to him might have kept back the sight. Trust me, they are a ton of fun to shoot with a red dot, and very accurate at 25 yards... once in a while. They are currently in demand and cost as much as $1500 or more.

Shoot some self defense ammo at 50 yards, you will be impressed. My story is long, but one afternoon we tested a bunch of ammo with a rifle scope on a few. I couldn't believe how quickly blasting ammo fell off from 25-50 yards.

Good point. I'd forgotten about that aspect of it. I think it's interesting how the 'tax stamp' has changed in its effectiveness. My understanding is that when the federal government first passed legislation instituting the tax stamp back in what, the '60s..'70s(?) $200 was a lot of money and was intended to dissuade people from pursuing SBRs, suppressors or full autos. Speaking of which, I should be getting my suppressor pretty soon. That'll be sweet. Gonna put it on that LR-308 you see in my avatar to 'tone down' my pig hunting this year.
My AR-pistol has an adjustable brace that looks a whole lot like an adjustable stock. I wouldn't put anything on it that wasn't. Maybe someone put some stuff together that also didn't know any better and sold it to him. Who knows. The shooting without sights thing is weird to me but I've seen plenty of people that don't know how to shoot or much about guns. It's funny, I was dialing in my 28 Nosler at 100 yards and some guys a few benches over thought I was trying to shoot at the 8" gong at 200 yards. I heard the in the background "oh, he's try for that 200 yard target", they thought this because by shots at 100 were splashing around that 200 yard gong, but I know if I was trying to shoot at it there's no way I was missing. Some people just can't shoot and don't know ****.
Personally, I would file that under a NONYA. You don't know what he had and he didn't care about you. If you want to see my papers, I want to see your badge.
