Im building a rifle with a krieger barrel. My gunsmith is going to put my barrel on without the locking nut. My question is what stocks can i use? Im assuming a standard savage 110 stock will look odd with the space for a barrel nut and not having one.

Its not a lot of difference since the way he is doing it, it will be shouldered, so it will still be largest right in front of the recoil lug unless its a true no taper bull barrel.

hey there, the smith did the same thing with my 110 when he installed my 25-06 ai barrel... now, mind you it started out with with an aftermarket bell and carlson stock, but it was inletted fro the barrel nut same as the factory stock.... you wont notice the space where the barrel nut was supposed to go... you will have to be looking at it from the top to really notice and atleast on my rifle the scope tends to obscure it anyway...

Is it the old tupperware style stock or is it an accustock? if it were me i would probably upgrade it if it were the tupperware stock (just my prefference, they dont fit me well and i find them to flimsy) i like my B&C and i am taking a hard look at the new Choate tactical as far as budget stocks go...

what caliber is the new barrel?

Thanks a lot for the info orch. It is a 7mm wsm. I will be reloading 180 berger.

Just purchased a Chote tactical for my 6mm rem build. Excellent quality stock at a fair price but the forestock sling swivel stud hits my #8 barrel preventing the action from seating. To be fair, this barrel is THICK, 0.875 at the muzzle, and 27 inches long. When I remove that sling stud, everything fits well. I am working on building a bolt and nut thing to fit in each side, to retain the sling swivels. It's either that or I can grind a slot in my barrel. :D

Called the factory and they were very nice, offered to refund my money... Nah, I'll just mess with it until it works.

Don't know if any of this applies to you but just thought you should know.

That does help because my barrel is the #10 MTU 27" with .930" at the muzzle. Thanks 4bycamper

4bycamper, glad to hear the good review.... i wanna pull the trigger on one but i still need to find out what bolt spacing i have on the 110 action i have waiting for a stock... its a newer centerfeed dbm action and i am not sure if it has a different action bolt spacing then my other 110 stagger fed blind mag.... i guess it would be easy enough to find out... but sometimes my laziness gets the best of me...
i take it your 6mm is probably on a short action? is it a blind mag or is it inletted for a detatchable magazine? I have a 10fp in the old choate folder that started out as a blind mag that i inletted myself and made a crude "farmer fix" 20rd detatchable magazine using the internal mag welded ontop of a m14 magazine.... so i guess it wouldnt be too hard to inlet one for the factory dbm if my action bolt spacing will work...

Jcode, let us know how she shoots! this leaves me thinking... my gun cabinet is 7mm deficient... i'm glad you started the thread now i have an idea what to do with my extra, stockless 110 action.... :D

Ain't that the truth. :D

Right on. I love farmer fixes. so i guess it wouldnt be too hard to inlet one for the factory dbm if my action bolt spacing will work...

My 6mm is on the Rem Long Action, Single Shot.
The stock is ADL. The action came from 1970something... no J lock... Squared and trued... with a single shot ramp installed. Good thing too, 6mm rem loads can get pretty long with some bullets and i'll have no ejection issues.

I think Boyds is having a sale on savage stocks. Just another option.

Might want to jump on it, whatever you decide. I got the last rem 700 LA ADL stock. Now they're 'backorder only'. I have seen ' backorder only' in several brands of stocks.
