Ian,

I've been wanting to try one for months. If you can get him to make them, I'll take one.

Re: S1\'s Flash Hole Uniformer

I have heard rumors about guys who do nothing to their brass, don't clean the copper off their barrels, buy Viagra by the case load, and marry women with really small hands.

Time has an amazing effect on these characters, just enough time to wear their hummer barrel out, or run clean out of that exceptional lot of brass and bullets.

In time they all return to Earth, never fails, to join the rest of us neck turning.... flash hole reaming .... pocket uniforming MORTALS.

Some of them even educate themselves with tools like chronographs, learning things like STD. DEV. of velocity actually comes down with good brass preparation. Along with the vertical dispersion of your groups shot at long range.

Re: S1\'s Flash Hole Uniformer

I got $10,000 that says your gun won't do that 10 times in a row over an Oehler 43.

In our world tests have to be repeatable to be valid.

Re: S1\'s Flash Hole Uniformer

Something else to think about..Maybe I got one of these "HUMMER" barrels you're talking about.Or maybe I'm just lucky. But did you ever notice that the same people are consistintly the luckiest???

Re: S1\'s Flash Hole Uniformer

Ya, right...and the Yankees have won 97 World Series in a row. I think you'll find your hummer right next to you little bar of soap.

Re: S1\'s Flash Hole Uniformer

Boyd

Like I mentioned, your doing fine.

Whatever your doing don't change it and see how long everything works out for you.

Considering your #1 so far in the light guns with our barrel restriction diameters of .950", stock restrictions of NO attachments, weight limit of 16 1/2 lbs and shooting ten shots for record, I would say your doing exceptionly well.

Add to that, it's only your second year to compete and you come up with an outstanding first 4 matches. Hope the next four are equally as well.

One terrible group last match, took me from 11th place to 25th and still have a 12" agg so far.
I promise, I'll be back.

In reality, looking at the top 20 to 25 positions, I think you are the "only one" that don't do anything to your cases. Your doing well not going through all the steps that most do.
Wish I could get away with that but, it seems I have to do all the little things needed to make the rifle shoot as well as I can. It makes one think "WHY" when I see the results you are having.

In the mean time, I will have to just wait on my "hummer" barrel to come my way.

Good luck to you and hope it continues. I like to see the newbie's do well since I was responsible for getting you into this game.

See you at the World Open. We are going down today as we have lots of work to do to get this event started. Probably 150 shooters in each class.
Sort of like a regular aggregate match for us though so I expect you to do just fine.

Darryl and Boyd

Good shooting to you both in the competition!

Re: S1\'s Flash Hole Uniformer

Ian...I will be happy to make some more reamers, and you will get the first one. Notice another technical thread designed to discuss useful information, digressed into another blabfest on how great a 1,000 yard benchrest shooter someone is??? Ever wonder why the gentlemen from the other 1,000 yard clubs do not feel the need to yank so many threads into egocentric land?

Re: S1\'s Flash Hole Uniformer

Thanks Sam, I believe that your tool is worth using and will buy another in a heartbeat.

If you could make a model that would fit into a Dremel, hand-drill or an RCBS Case Prep Center all the more interesting. I work VERY hard at avoiding work. If I can get a little electric thingy to spin the cutter then I could enjoy life more completely, grow old gracefully and avoid the crippling effects of finger-twist-arthritis or some equally nasty disease that is waiting for anyone who has to use his trigger finger for such obnoxious tasks.

I know some guys who will be interested in buying your flash hole uniformer, some of them are target-weenies and they are pretty serious reloaders.
