does anyone know of a good rust remover? bought a Winchester model 70 and didn't pay attention as well as I usually do and found rust in the action just before the breech. other then putting new barrel on. Goona be hard to get to but i believe doable.

Mmmmm. surface rust or sure enough plating rust?
surface rust can be taken out easily.....Scotch brite in a split jag turned in a drill slowly is an option for the other. It is a last resort type option but have had to do it on a gun I inherited. Worked out fine. It was either that or re-bbl.

+1. add some corrosion-x the day before

That corrosion-x rust remover product looks pretty cool. What does one do to keep the rust from coming back on the removed area afterwards?

Thanks,
Ed

The corrosion x will help clean the rust off. Pretty incredible product. Just keep it clean and oiled after.

CLR works very well too.
