RL-33 Load Data

I'm getting 3130 fps with a 30 inch barrel 300 rum and 230 gr bergers, wonder if that RL33 would give me even more...
cripes, I'm getting 3000 fps with 225 hornady's(26" tube) and rl50 and I can't even get enough in the dang case to top out on pressure. I wouldn't doubt 3200+ in a 30" would be doable, with 3100 fps in a 26" give or take. I can't get a # at a time yet and I'm a bit reluctant to go for a keg, so I'll wait a bit yet.

Ya, I was thinking that too. I don't want to buy that much though until I see how it works in my 30/375 S.I.......Rich

Yes but if you buy the 8 lb container you might save money. I compared it to what I'd pay at Sportsmans with tax. I beat it even though there was the hazmat fee and shipping.

Well I bit the bullet and bought 2 lbs from Graf and kids for a total price of $75 bucks . I don't much care for FED ex . But now I have the stuff and will feed my 30" bbl 6x284 with it pushing Berger 105 Hybrids ....... AZ shooter suggested I start out at 58grs so further reports to follow.

Keep us posted, I would like to see how RL-33 stacks up against my 28" 6-284 pushing 107's with Ramshot Magnum.

In the winter I was loading 53grs of Re#22 and getting 3400,then used that same load in summer and I nearly locked up the bolt. So reduced load to 51grs of same and produced 3375. AZshooter says Re#33 produced 150 FPS more then Retumbo out of I think 28" bbl. So I'll be experimenting Saturday and will report my findings.

I actually got 178 fps over the top load of Retumbo. Here is what I posted in a different thread:

6mm-284: 28" SS Bartlein 5R barrel 1 in 7.5 twist

Original load: 58 gr of Retumbo, 105 Berger target hybrid seated .065" off rifling vel 3307 fps

RL-33:
starting load 58 gr vel 3074
jumped to 61 grs vel 3274
62 grs vel 3335

No signs of pressure, believe can add more powder.

----------------------------

Went back to the range for another session:

6mm-284 non moly Berger target hybrid

worked up to 64.5 gr which showed slight lift with very tiny shiny spot on case head from Rem 700's ejector hole. (This is with 8 times fired lapua brass)

62.5 gr 3376
63 gr 3414
63.5 gr 3453
64 gr 3485 fps excellent accuracy
64.5 gr 3535 a bit warm max case capacity using drop tube

-------------
Since then I have shot the 64 gr load and called it good. I get ragged holes at 100 yds. Going out to the Tucson Rifle Club to shoot at the 500 M Ram to verify. Ever since I switched to the 105 Berger hybrid this has shot well at the 500 M steel. I am certain it will do so with RL-33.

Old velocity with Retumbo was 3307 which was the highest charge of powder without pressure issues. RL-33 yielded a 178 fps increase!
