I'm looking for hunting rifle in .280, must be timber stocked and 24" or greater barrel length. $1200 is my limit. I was set on a .308 but i don't need bullets over 140-150gn so looking at a .280. Neither Tikka or CZ make rifles chambered in it though :(

If you don't want anything over a 140 your better of with a 6.5 of sorts like a creedmoor or 260, 6.5-284 .
Something like that.

But why don't you want to go over 150 ?

I just don't need anything over 150gn, i mainly hunt pigs at medium ranges and goats at long ranges. 100gn pills in my .243 work well MOST of the time but i just need a little more punch. I often fire 10-15 rounds in > 2 mins so don't want a 7mm or .30cal magnum.

If i could get 140gn pills at 3,000 or 150gn close to it i'd be happy. Much bigger or faster and my shoulder won't be happy after a dozen quick shots.

I agree, the 6.5 creedmore, 6.5 / 284 win as long as you don't shoot too much or the .260 will all fill the bill and you can easily make your cash limit. I'm not sure anyone makes a off the shelf .280 these days other than special runs sometimes.

I own a Remington CDL in 280 Remington with a wood stock and a 24 inch. barrel and I love the rifle. I don't think Remington lists this gun in the catalog but I found one on GunsAmerica for $650.00. If I did not own one I would buy it.

If you like the 308, why not take a look at the 7-08. Light recoil and you can load 120 gr pill and shoot 500 yds.

Good luck. I think the availability of the 280 is limited, even in Remmy rifles. A good option is to search some pawn shops, find a timber stocked rifle in long action, preferably a 30.06 or 270 and have it rebarreled to a 280. You'll likely exceed your limit, however.

I just recently received my 280 build.
