ridgeline in 6.5prc

My bro in law just purchased one. Shoots factory Hornady 143 gr .5 moa. Loaded some of the 143 Hornady with both Retumbo , R-26, and H1000 and they all shoot into a ragged hole. COL same as the factory rounds. I think it is great value in a rifle.

I was excited about a ridgeline. Bought one in 300 win mag. Shot it once with a light load, fouled so bad it didn't clean after 30 patches. Bought it so I could hunt with it this year. Sent it back to CA a month ago. They have had it longer than I have. Won't be hunting with it this year. I won't ever but another one and couldn't recommend one.

I'd be on the phone daily till they made it right.

I've been calling them once a week. My season starts this Saturday, they told me last Thursday I would have it by then, that they would check it and give me a call. I am thinking that they have so many defects coming back that they can't keep up. Guess I'll be shooting my 6.5 wsm that I made or my 28 nosler that I just built.

Well, frustrating as I know it is, at least you have other options and won't have to sit it out.

I've had two at a gunsmith now for 14 months I was initially promised I'd have back in 3-4 so I can appreciate the aggravation.

Well I ended up beating my buddy to it and bought one in 6.5prc. It's a joy to shoot and shoots very well for me/son. We got it dailed in and now he has one deer under his belt with it. Just an FYI the match ammo flat out shoots and drops them with a baseball size exit hole.

So are you saying you would shoot a braked rifle without ear protection ?
If it's braked you should be wearing ear protection anyways or at least I do.
Occasionally I have no choice but whenever possible I do.

Even with hearing protection unfortunately the brakes that do the best at reducing recoil redirect so much of the blast at the shooter they can still be brutal.

I'm eyeballing one of the Ridgeline PRC's, after watching my buddy bughole bullets out of his Ridgeline in 6.5x284.

Put me in the camp of definitely wearing ear pro while hunting with a rifle w/brake. I managed to screw up and shoot twice with my braked rifle at a great muley buck without wearing ear protection, and I have noticed decreased hearing in my right ear, and some tinnitus.... I'm only 53 and it really sucks!

Ridgeline in 6.5 PRC, very interesting.

I have a ton of the ear plugs on a string in my backpack. I just hang them around my neck. If I see something to shoot, its almost instinct to lick-them and stick them in my ear, 31 decibel rating. Yes, I have a LOUD brake I hunt with.

Ive got a ridgeline in 28 nosler, I dont use the break but tried it out when the gun was new. I found it too loud with plugs in, never used it again, If you are going to use a break then get a side vent break so you dont get a face full of dirt every time you shoot it
