Replace the 300wsm?

I love my 300 wsm rifles, but if I didn't have to pack around in bigger bear country I'd probably be rocking a 6.5 prc right now, 6.5 saum if we're having the conversation 5 years ago. Modern bullet construction being as good as it is, combined with the 140-150 grain class bullets the 6.5 short action mags are a solid selling point. Heck the 6.5x284 was red hot around the early 2000s with good reason, the prc just makes it a smidgen easier to live with these long bullets.

I'm a 30 cal guy always have been. I started with a 30-06, then moved up to the 300 win, then the 300 wby, then a 300 rum and a 300 wsm, but my kids all shoot the others…I only personally hunt with the 300 rum, and I don't really care if your a coyote or a moose your getting shot with the rum with hand loaded 200 gr Hornady eld-x. I do have a .223 and and 22-250 and a 220 swift built for coyotes but I hate leaving the house without my rum so those others just kinda get left out! But I'll quit rambling on and just say in my opinion 30 cal is tops!

Couldn't agree more, also have a RUM that shoots 200gr ELD-X's at ludicrous speed with devastating results. Cool option would be the 300 Remington Short Action Ultra Magnum, find a sweet 700 or Model 7 edition and run with it…1-8.5/9 twist
