Remingtons new AWR rifle has peaked my intrest.

I have an awr in 338rum. Not the lightest rifle but by no means heavy. I carried it about 5 days bear hunting last year and did not notice it to be heavy. It has a 3-15x44 vx5hd on it so pretty middle of the road weight optic. Recoil is not for the faint of heart but I actually thought it would be worse. I am running the Barnes vortex 250 lrx that do 2910 fps. There is no brake on this rifle or will there ever be. I shot about 15 rounds off the bench the second time out to get used to it and test how it would hold zero and I will not lie, towards the end I was starting to feel it. To shoot a few rounds at an animal, never going to bother me. Just make sure you have the eye relief set right and the stock is firmly in your shoulder.

Had a 338 rum in a 700 xcr 2. That thin barrel and light~ish weight was not great. My muzzle was .625 or something like that, which didn't really allow for an MB.
I sold the barrel and ordered a CF barrel. The MB will make it enjoyable to shoot. I grew up shooting 12ga slugs for deer, so not recoil shy. I shoot with ear plugs with or without a brake.

I love the 338 rum, so much so that my 300 rum is getting rebarreled so that I have two. Currently for this year I am shooting the Hornady 285 ELDM at 2990 with 100 grs of rl33, a hammer for sure!
I keep having to talk myself out doing the same but in a .375 Rum just to complete the 375 collection.

2650 is very anemic for a 225 out of your win mag. What is your load? Mine has no problem reaching 2950+ with a 225 and 2800 with a 250. RL19 is the go to powder in that caliber .

257 Tony I am using RL 19 but only 71grains as that gave the best accuracy. I could have loaded hotter but accuracy fell quickly above 71 gr. I have been thinking now maybe I could turn my Win Mag into a 33 Nosler.
