Looking for some help with a Remington Sendero 7mm sf

Can't seem to get below a 1in to 1.5 groups at 100yards. Trigger has been adjusted to 2.0 pounds, after inspection crown was a little rough(had gun smith fix). Also made sure stock was torqued down to 65in pounds (according to HS precision stocks). This gun will be mainly used for hunting.

I'm sure the list is a mile long of things to impove accuracy. Maybe with some good pet loads it will come together. I have reloader 22, Imr 4831, and also H4831sc, been trying to get Remtumbo but no luck so far. Any help will be helpful. Thanks!!!

Try H 1000 and Berger VLD's. That's what I have mine loaded with. It will 1 moa @ 100 for the first 3 shots and then starts to walk twards the 2 oclock on the target. I guess that is due to the barrel warming up. Then again if you can't get the job done in 3 shots maybe I should work on my shooting and not load data

I'll look when I get home and see what I'm using that could help you. Most of my loads are Reloder 19 or Reloder 22, since I have a fair bit of that at the house. I haven't tried any with H1000 yet. I might move on to that next.

162 hornady SST, h1000 69 grains or 68 retumbo

Both shoot well at 300 yards 1 1/2 or better

The sst's are easier to shoot than the bergers. The bergers require some time and effort with the seating depth but they will shoot well

Thanks for the help!! I'll try the Berger vlds again, I don't think I had them close enough to the lands the last couple of times. I got some 162 sst's today. Thanks!!

I've always shot the 140 sierra with enough rl22 under them to hit 3200 fps in a 7rem. A good 150 grain bt like a nos or sierra with either rl22 or 7828 under it would do you well too. I'm sure either h4831 or h1000 would do well too if you swing that way.

I would be suprised if the gun would not shoot with a 215 primer and 69 grains of h1000 with the bullet seated just off the lands.

Going back thru my notes and records I used 70.7 Grains of H-1000 with the 168 Burger VLD. That round averaged 2,896 fps. I also noted that it was 3.435 coal. also noted it was less then a pie plate group on a 2' X 3' target steel at 1,000 yards.

I loaded up some 168 VLD's in for my A-Bolt 7Mag and it shot them ok, then got worse, but my BOSS had come loose and was throwing the barrels harmonics off, making it shoot crazy.

My load was:

Winchester Nickle-plated brass
Fed 215 primers
Berger 168 VLD Hunting Match
67.0gr of Alliant Reloder 22
C.O.L.: 3.363"

It's worth a try in your gun. I'd load 6 of them to test 2 3-shot groups. Hope this helps.

Here's the box next to my dummy round I use for measuring chamber depth.

Hello Bigbuck ,

I have an original version Sendero 7mm Rem. Magnum , shooting 162 gr. A-Max , H4831sc [ max load 65.0 gr ] , Fed.215 primers , Winchester brass , full-length resized, seated .030" off lands , Average velocity 3020 fps. OAL = 3.385". ES = 27fps .
This load works in my rifle , however , you should start at lower powder level , as shown on Hodgdon website , to determine what is safe in your rifle .
It consistently averages .5 MOA , with my best groups , 3 shots = 2" @ 700 yards; and 3 shots = .452" @ 200yards .
I bedded the recoil lug and area around lug at front of receiver , and the rear tang screw area of the receiver . Original factory trigger adjusted to 2.75# .

Thanks Everyone for the much needed help!!

I was finally able to get a .5 group at 100yards with 168 berger hunting vld touching the lands with Reloader 22. Have not got to Shoot anymore since but it looks like things are starting to improve. Finally starting to figure out what the gun likes. Also was able to get a good group with a max load of H4831sc with sierra game king 160s .005 of the lands.

Dpm 25-06 thanks for your recent post, I will give that a try also when I can get my hands on some 162 amax's. On back order everywhere. Thanks again!!
