REM-AGE builds

^ Jesus post asked why some guys might not like them.

I really ruffled some tough feathers.

To each their own, in the context that "this is why some people might turn up their nose" I agree. I get ruffled when people claim that "they're ugly" is a fact. It's an opinion and to me an insignifcant one that I disagree with. The Fact, that a well put together setup will shoot and be cost effective is far more important to me.

100% agree. That's spot on. More eloquently put.

also you quoted me before I edited it so now I sound like a jerk! More so than I am! ;)

All of the components on my remage 7RM are identical to the components on my custom built 6.5 CM... except a barrel nut.
$1320 cheaper to have the barrel nut and I built it myself in a few days. I waited 13 months for my custom that was only gonna take 4 months.
You'd have to look close enough to see the barrel nut to know which is which. Buy maybe all of my rifles are just ugly. I'll have to ask my wife

Read TX Badgers post. The OP asked for a reason. Some shooters think they are ugly. That's the reason. It's a valid reason for some shooters.

but it AINT A REMAGE...so why post in a remage thread ?

It was a lot of fun to piece together. and the look on my 9 year old's face when I told him "dad built this" was priceless. I have it bedded in a Grayboe stock and added a trigger tech trigger. This rifle is absolutely boring to shoot.

Ask your wife what's prettier. The nut on the barrel or the nut behind the trigger.
Really to me I wouldn't want one on a custom built blued nice . English walnut stocked rifle. But on a hunting rifle that is painted and has a carbon stock it wouldn't bother me if it were there. If you want to see ugly just remember all those savages made in the 80s and 90s that were that terrible fake brown color and were shaped like lumber.
A good friend of mine used to kick my butt with a few of those ugly guns. Savage has come a long way since then.
Shep

I built a little 6.5x47L remage one time. Always regretted selling it.

Nothing wrong with them. I'd say most people couldn't shoot the difference. I just prefer a custom built rifle
