rehashing the scope theme

i picked up an almost new kr1 merkel at a nice price. that i'm going to give to my daughter for graduation . found a mount,but in one inch was told that 40mm is the max because the mount is low.was wanting a german scope to go with the german theme. was thinking about a zeiss 3x9which gander mountian has(i like their layaway) not remembing the models theres one for 399 which i thought was a conquest . seems reasonable for a german scope .are they any good or should i look for something else? 800 would be my absolute limit

Love both my conquests...3.5-10x44 and a 4.5-14x50. They are very clear and very reliable. Hard to beat for the $$

thanks for the replies. then its a go on the zeiss. thanks maybe dad can save enough to get one before hunting season too
