Hesp...you may as well use that .270 EW to rebarrel to another 6.5 "something"! ha You know you will never hunt with it in .270W guise! You can always put it back on when you burn up the new one!

I have had wonderful results with R26/160 Nosler Partition in a 22" .270. It liked R23 better with the 150 NBT. Both clocked from 2930 to 2950fps. I have only used H4831Sc with any 130 and only Hunter with the 110 TTSX. I ordered some R16 to try in this new to me Kimber 270, but I haven't seen it yet...

Just chronographed my Reloader 26, 150 Nosler Partition load at 38 deg. F just to be sure my memory is intact. Using Win brass, Federal LR Match primers, 61.0 grains R-26. 3011 fps. Ruger M-77, 22 inch barrel. Every time I chrono this load I get between 2999 and 3011 fps. Temperature range has been between 30 to 60 degrees F. Seems to be temperature stable for a deer load in Upper Michigan. It only gets 80 or above for a few days here each summer and sometimes it seems like it never does. If it happens this summer, I will fire a few and see if I get any real increase in velocity or other brass and bolt lift related signs of pressure. One more note: I load these to maximum magazine length that permits reliable cycling. Accuracy always sub 1 inch and sometimes .5 at 100yds.

Lots of great advice and help with 270s here. When I say my best I mean accuracy and velocity.
My best with 130s is with H4350, RL16 & H4831SC
with 140s it is with H4831SC,
with 150s it is with RL23, velocity king is RL26 but I didn't get the accuracy or low velocity Extreme Spread and Standard Deviations that RL23 provided my three 270 Wins.

Have had at least 5 different .270s. Always had the best success with H4831 CCI 200's and 130gr Nosler BTs. Switched to the Accubonds when they came out and they print about the same with a little less meat damage. I have one factory stock Rem 700 ADL Tupperware stock .270 that loves 130gr Hornady Interlocks 60gr H4831 and CCI200s. Will put all shots into a 50cent piece at 200 all day long. Took my first Speed goat at 235 with that rifle in Wyoming. That was a great hunt and experience
I've tried the other suggestions powders such at RL16 and RL17 and 4350. Could never get the accuracy. Little more speed yes. But I load for accuracy and the confidence that gives. You can always dope for your drops. But shotgun patterns don't do that….

There are many reasons to shift over to modern powders. StaBall 6.5, superformance, the slow ramshots like magpro and magnum, and the Reloader line like 25 & 26.

min barrel length is 26. Personally I have a 26 and a 29 inch. It just free HP with length. You can tone down the powder weight to improve accuracy and still get velocity along with extended case life. I'm also pro faster twist like 8 - 9

Been watching this thread, and got to wondering. (Not wandering) Does anyone
use 90 to 100 grain projectiles for the 270? This cartridge is a speed demon with lighter weight bullets. Thinking about trying this myself.

I've had a 270W with a custom 26 inch since I was a kid. Kids are into varminting. I bought 100 grain hollow points with max doses of imr 4350. Then I learned about BC and shifted over to 100 spbt. Very destructive on smaller critters. Later I found 110 spbt with even higher BC. They have so much HP that I never even tried 90's.

chrono for 100's was about 3600+ fps and 110 3500+ fps. Very destructive on Prarrie poodles and marmonts

I shoot speer gold dots 90 gr. I use them in a reduced recoil for my boy. H4895 about 2800'/sec. Next to no recoil and does an excellent job on deer. I believe that bullet is designed for 6.8 spc, but it works well for us. All shots less than 100 yds. I wouldn't push this bullet past 3100'/sec. If I remember correctly I seen load data, and the max velocity was 3100 on that bullet and probably for a reason. Best wishes.
