Recommendation for tripod for rifle rest and spotting scope?

I bought the Leofoto SA-364C+MA-30 CF Tripod from Desmond photo on eBay for around $265 shipped last year. The head is a rrs anvil 30 clone. That takes both arca and pic rails. I also bought a Lswild ultralight plate and bag for it as I don't always like to have the rifle locked in. I really like this set up.

After looking around for days now, I can safely say, that was a smokin' hot deal! $135 savings over what's available out there now.

I too have a BOG Deathgrip (yes it is heavier than a similar carbon tripod) and I converted it from the "clamp" version head to a ball-head mount. I am not concerned about the weight as I use my tripod for supporting various rifles used for everything from shooting prairie dogs to large game. I don't pack-in to my hunts so the added weight is not a concern for me - I like the added weight of this tripod as it aids in stability. It has worked for my intended purposes...to each their own I suppose.

Same here. I'm usually clamping ARs on mine when shooting deer, pigs, or Coyotes. It is heavy but I don't have to tote it very far.
